It’s interesting how a man singing in falsetto can be very sexy. Prince taught me that at an early age, but the song I’m thinking about now is “Steal the Diamonds” by local band Voxhaul Broadcast. Thanks to David Dennis’ vocals and super groovy bass line, this song may be one of their best yet.

FILTER Magazine is holding their First Annual Culture Collide Music Festival this weekend, October 7 – 10, and the last day to purchase wristbands is TODAY.
Very limited wristbands are available for just $20. Wristbands will admit holders into all shows (pending capacity) as well as provide priority viewing for the festival-closing Toyota Antics Block Party on October 10.

The Hammer Museum’s “Also I Like to Rock” series brought an incredible line up of great local bands to play in the courtyard throughout July and the last show of the series was particularly special. Ferraby Lionheart started things off with a short acoustic set, followed by the rollicking piano and guitar driven pop of Chasing Kings and headlined by KCRW faves Voxhaul Broadcast. The last night of the Hammer Museum’s “Also I Like to Rock” music series was a blast, with a series of extra special last minute surprises.

Voxhaul Broadcast are at a creative crossroads. The overlying theme of today’s Morning Becomes Eclectic debut is that they are a local band in the process of finding their identity – and making some pretty great music while they figure it out. Jason has been supporting them since earlier this year, spinning “Shoot the Breeze” and “Blackout Conversations,” among others.
