As many of you already know, Black Dub – the latest project from legendary producer Daniel Lanois – made their debut here on KCRW. DJ Chris Douridas tells the full story here and we welcome the band back to our studios this week for a performance on Morning Becomes Eclectric. To get you excited, here’s a few photos from Black Dub’s recent show at the El Rey, which the LA Times called “electrifying.”

When I heard San Diego’s The Soft Pack were doing a 10-show marathon in LA on Saturday, I knew I had to catch them somewhere along the way.  Luckily, they chose the backyard of a Venice household – the FMLY mansion – as their 3rd location and had openers Avi Buffalo kick off the proceedings.  I like both bands and were impressed that they played their hearts out in short sets from a garage!  I first checked out The Soft Pack at CMJ 2008 when they were called The Muslims. …
