A huge projection mixing live video of the audience, music, artwork and graphics projected onto the side of Holiday Inn at Ocean Blvd and Colorado Avenue.
2. 'Alter Egos' by Christopher O'Leary
A video installation inspired by science fiction and comic book culture, featuring engagement between the real audience and parallel virtual characters.
3. 'Soft Underbelly' by Joshua Howell and Aaron Zeligs
Taking their inspiration from jelly fish, this team will create a fantastical welcoming installation featuring a glowing landscape and a floating marine-like ceiling.
4. 'shapednoise' by Céleste Boursier-Mougenot
This French artist will create an ever-evolving piece of architectural sculpture using foam that is responsive to audio and visual input taken from the immediate environment. and a video camera.
5. 'Howling at the Sun' by 18th Street Arts Centre with LA Commons
A musical procession down the Third Street Promenade open Glow and performance on the beach featuring Najite Agindotan, Angel Figueroa & Michael McCarty invites the audience to join in.
6. 'Shoreline Luminescence' by John Carpenter, Jerry Digby and Alex Deutschman
A video projection onto the sand and surf based on the movement of visitors to the site.
7. 'Barbeque Train' by Pentti Monkkonen
The Border Grill will cook food on this re-imagined locomotive steam train.
8. 'Coast Lines' by Steve Roden
A video projection using hand drawn maps of the Pacific coast line, creating a type of visual music.
9. 'Carousel Concerts by 'Machine Project
A variety of musical performances taking place on and around the carousel on Santa Monica Pier.
10. 'Haze' by Gil Kuno
Projections of abstract images are projected directly onto the surface of fog.
11. 'Controlled Boulder' by Klutch Stanaway
A small boulder seeks its way along the gravel path under the pier as a mobile modest beast; is it a camouflaged animal or simply a higher geologic order?
12. 'Pitbull Stick' by Yoshua Okón
A video projection on the wall of Hot Dog on a Stick featuring a staged event of pit bulls and their owners.
13. 'Muscle Beach Glow' by Robert Chapin, Jessica Cail, Ian Forrest & team
The public is invited to step into the fluorescent world of Muscle Beach and be assisted by regular users of the equipment.
14. 'Sandbox' by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer
An interactive installation inviting visitors to reach out and touch ghost like images that are translated into huge projections of their hands onto the beach.
15. 'Day for Night' by Corey Madden, Bruno Louchouarn & Keith Mitchell
Film taken in real time from dawn until dusk is screened at the exact location of the shooting and will start at dusk and end at dawn (6:44 AM) staging an exact reversal of fictional and real time.
16. 'Luminous Passage' by Predock & Frane Architects
A glittering and glowing land bridge connecting the urban forms of Santa Monica to the sea.
17. 'DNA Sequencer' by Syyn Labs
A touch sensitive installation inspired by the DNA helix placed in the historic trellis in Crescent Bay Park.
18. 'La Bella Luna' by Anne Herlihy
A karaoke tent invites the public to sing songs about the moon as their faces are projected onto a balloon in the sky.
20. 'Wandering Musicians:Killsonic' by Machine Project
Thirty musicians will wander throughout the Glow Zone playing a variety of instruments including snare drum, trumpet, glockenspiel and flute.
